MBlocal is a place for locals to share their opinions on businesses and events in Manhattan Beach and the surrounding areas. Here, locals can support their favorite businesses from thier community.
Please be honest with your opinions, and especially be honest about who you are. If you own or work at a business, then simply say so. Local customers love hearing more about the people behind the business, as well as their goals and vision.

This has to be one of the best local treasures we've discovered in ages. My husband and I wound up here after a mishap with our original plans for a weekend getaway to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Turned out to be the best thing that could've happened! Terranea offers the best unobstructed views I've seen from anywhere in or around … more
King's Hawaiian is another South Bay original restaurant that creates a unique variety of dishes by combining two different ethnic cuisines (see also my review of Spoon House). At King's Hawaiian, you'll find a blending of Japanese and Hawaiian styles with more traditional American food available as well. The restaurant itself has a 60's coffee shop ambiance … more
I stumbled upon this place late one night after a wedding I went to at the neighboring Portofino Hotel. We we're just looking for a place to stop by and get a drink before going home. I didn't really know what to expect from a restaurant/bar in the Redondo Beach Harbor, but when I walked in I was surprised. A very nice establishment that had a DJ spinning some tunes. … more
Taiko is right in the middle of the trendy El Segundo location that includes the new ArcLight theaters, PF Chang's, and McCormick and Schmick's. So we might not expect to find high quality, authentic Japanese food at Taiko, but something more along the lines of Americanized Japansese food. In this case, our assumptions would be wrong. Taiko serves up a variety of authentic … more

Food is mediocre, prices are outrageous! But the decor is great which makes for a very fun atmosphere and I can just tell their margaritas are great. Salsa is + 5
Samurai Sam's is a great place for getting a quick bite or grabbing lunch with co-workers. Since it's located in a shopping plaza, parking is almost never an issue, plus you have your dessert shops nearby along with everyone's favorite drug store, CVS, and Bristol Farms, the organic, albeit expensive and of the guilt-tripping variety, grocery. I always get their … more

Every year, my son chooses to have his birthday dinner at Versailles. The restaurant in Manhattan Beach is one of four locations for this family owned chain begun in 1981. The building and decor at this location is a little tired and worn, but atmosphere is not why you eat at Versailles. You come to Versailles for friendly service and excellent Cuban food. … more
I love coming here! It my usual place to go when going out for the evening in Manhattan. I know a few of the bar tenders, the crowd is in they're low to mid 20's and Fridays and Saturdays they have an awesome cover band! I'd recommend checking out Sharks Cove! It's a great place for a group as well.
Being from So Cal I'm a huge Mexican food fan! In fact I may eat it too much... That being said, for the last 2 years I've worked about 5 steps away from a Mexican restaurant that I have never eaten at. I've always wanted to eat at Cozymel's, I've just never gotten around to it. Been in there a few times for a beer but never for food. So last week I was … more
If you drive by Katsu on Rosecrans and Highland, you probably won't even notice it is there. They do not have any signage on the building! There is a red awning and a door with an "A" rating hung on it and that is it. You better know what you are looking for. But most good restaurants gain customers by word of mouth and Katsu certainly is proof of that point. … more
Farmhouse is the perfect spot for all the right reasons. Usually an open table, plenty of parking, food cooked fresh, always consistent, breakfast until 3, and plenty of delicious (DELICIOUS) options. Favorite menu item: pancakes! How they make them so fluffy but with a firm, griddled exterior, I'll never know! The dinner specials (farm grilled … more
China Grill has the best vegetable egg rolls I have ever had, they are not too greasy and they actually taste like something! I really love their wonton chips.
I found myself done with the gym at around 9:30 on a Friday night with no plans. My friend and I were pretty tired, and need something to eat. Places were closing, and we needed food now. Right across the street from the 24 Hour is Romano's -- so we thought to give this a try. PARKING: We left our cars near the gym and walked over, which I think means we could … more
